Mariam Aghayan is a first-generation immigrant from Yerevan, Armenia. She is a graduate of The Fletcher School and Gettysburg College, with degrees in Law and Diplomacy (MA) and Political Science and Public Policy (BA). Mariam is a Major Gifts Officer at Pomfret School. Mariam’s background as an immigrant and direct descendant of survivors of the Armenian Genocide have ingrained her passion for human rights. She has implemented five international grants (two Andrew W. Mellon grants in Morocco and Greece, one Project for Peace grant in Armenia, a State Department Diplomacy Lab grant in Hungary, and a Tisch International Fellow grant in Armenia) all dealing with various aspects of human rights. She interned with the Permanent Mission of Armenia to the United Nations, both at Headquarters in New York and at the Offices in Geneva. Mariam has a daughter, Arev. Both mother and daughter are trilingual (Armenian, Russian, and English).
